Nice to meet you! I’m Dr. Mary Ferris and my business partner is Dr. Angela Loeb. We worked together at Olympia Vision Clinic (OVC) for 11 years and are excited to bring our expertise AND our new ideas to Chehalis. We’ve been told that we should have a blog, so here it goes….
Our story starts several years before OVC. We both attended Indiana University School of Optometry at the same time, 2 classes apart, and went on a VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) medical mission trip to Guanajuato, Mexico together in 2007. When I was a resident in 2009, Dr. Loeb was one of the interns whose work I was responsible for supervising in Indianapolis. It’s surprising we found each other again several years later across the country!
When Luxottica informed Dr. Loeb on Christmas Eve that they would be closing the Olympia Lenscrafters store where she held a lease in 2011, she reached out to me to publish her job search to the Olympic Optometric Society. My response was- “not until we interview you first!” I remembered her work ethic, knew the quality of her training, and jumped at the chance to recommend her for the open position at OVC.
During our 11 years working side-by-side at OVC, we enjoyed sharing cases, learning the business and developments in optometry, and challenging each other with how to implement new ideas and systems. We were fortunate to have great mentors and friends who shared our office during that time. When the practice was sold to Luxottica in early 2022, it became clear that it was time for a change- and time to run with our ideas!
